Remember...

  • long afternoons spent at the beach, the river, the pool, with your buddies?
  • bike rides around the island that ended only because the sun started to go down?
  • finishing yet another book and noting that its pages were stained with drippings from your strawberry popsicle?
  • having no clue about why grown-ups were so annoyed that August has no real holidays?
Summer—when you’re a kid—is as good as it gets.

All of a sudden you grow up, and summer becomes the season for...

  • planning autumn company or department retreats
  • getting geared up for a busy fall season
  • thinking (even though it seems ‘way too early) about the holiday party for your group
ART FOR LUNCH can make this less painful.

The Retreat challenges:
If you’re seeking a fresh, innovative idea for a fall retreat, ART FOR LUNCH is a perfect solution. Sessions can be provided at off site locations (retreat centers, hotel conference rooms, recreation centers, etc.) and there are a variety of techniques available. ART FOR LUNCH is a great kick-off activity to bring a group together in the morning - or to spark an afternoon session by providing a lift during the post-lunch low-energy period. And it’s also a stunning way to end a day of goal-setting and high-level discussion. From a participant in a retreat workshop: “ART FOR LUNCH rocks—the process was so easy and such a great group activity.”

The Holiday party challenges:
A holiday party becomes memorable with ART FOR LUNCH as an activity. Combine an art-making session with lunch, dinner, cocktails, etc. and people will be talking about the event all year long. Polaroid emulsion or image transfer are popular (participants can bring their own photographs), or a group can create individual collage pieces -- mats or frames are furnished to complete beautiful finished works. As a participant in an ART FOR LUNCH activity at a holiday party: “One of the great things about your workshop is the take-home aspect—I was thrilled to leave with a finished piece that I plan to give as a gift (if I can bear to part with it!).”

While we can’t bring back your “favorite summer as a kid” we CAN make your group’s interaction more fun, more productive, and more memorable.

Another idea:

ART FOR LUNCH is now also offering workshops in Prudy Kohler's studio, located in an easy-to-get-to-and-park area of San Francisco's Mission District. Details:

  • 3 hours in length (but time can be tailored to your needs)
  • limited to 3 people; much individual attention available
  • all materials provided
  • many techniques available: Polaroid transfer, collage, blueprint, etc.
  • family rates available

For more information, contact Prudy Kohler.

Please note that although the Polaroid company had announced that it will cease manufacturing its instant film, I’ve got plenty available at the moment, and this would be an excellent time to schedule a session with the wonderful Polaroid transfer technique (see examples) before it’s gone forever.
